MOMENT No. 002 is inspired by a real travel memory in Bayou Bonfouca, Louisiana, where a quiet moment beside the dock suddenly turned into an unforgettable alligator encounter.

BAYOU BONFOUCA

Slidell, Louisiana

A quiet bayou. A camera-ready pose. One sudden leap we never expected.

Some travel memories are built slowly over days.

Others happen in a split second.

During our stay in Louisiana, we rented a wooden cabin on a small island surrounded by the waters of Bayou Bonfouca. Around us, the landscape felt almost untouched — dense trees, wild vegetation, slow-moving water and the quiet atmosphere of the Louisiana bayou.

The cabin had its own small wooden dock, and from the moment we arrived, we could see alligators moving through the water nearby.

They quickly became part of the landscape around us.

We spent our days watching the river from the wooden deck and from the upper balconies of the cabin. Sometimes we would take photos of the water and wildlife below. Other times, we took a small boat out to fish, explore the bayou and watch the sunset.

For most of the stay, the alligators simply moved quietly through the water.

Then one day, everything changed in a single moment.

One of our friends went down to the dock and stood near the water, watching an alligator while getting ready for a photograph.

As he posed, he made a playful hand gesture — almost like the way someone might call a cat or dog closer.

And then it happened.

The alligator suddenly rose from the water, reacting as though the gesture meant food.

At that exact moment, I was standing on the second-floor balcony with my camera.

I captured the split second when the quiet bayou suddenly came alive.

It was surprising, dramatic and completely unexpected.

That became our MOMENT.

WHEN THE BAYOU CAME ALIVE

For most of our stay, the river moved slowly and quietly around the cabin.

The bayou felt peaceful, even though we knew alligators were always nearby.

That was what made the sudden leap so unforgettable.

What should have been an ordinary photograph by the dock changed in an instant.

One playful hand gesture.

One movement in the water.

Then suddenly, the alligator rose upward.

From the balcony above, I happened to have my camera ready at exactly the right moment.

The entire encounter lasted only seconds.

But sometimes a few seconds are all it takes to turn an ordinary place into a memory that stays with you for years.

FROM MEMORY TO ART

MOMENT No. 002 reimagines that Louisiana memory as a vintage-inspired travel poster.

The warm sky, deep greens, still water and dense vegetation place us back in the wild atmosphere of Bayou Bonfouca.

The wooden dock recalls the place where the encounter happened.

The surrounding trees and bayou water preserve the quiet setting that defined most of our stay.

And at the center is the moment we remembered most:

an alligator suddenly rising from the water while an ordinary photograph became something completely unexpected.

The artwork exaggerates the movement and simplifies the landscape, not to recreate the photograph exactly, but to preserve the surprise and energy of that single moment.

It isn't meant to reproduce a photograph exactly.

It is meant to preserve how the moment felt.

The journey gave us Louisiana.
The moment gave us the story.
